About the Role:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Support Worker to join our team at Southbridge Kemptville. As a PSW, you will play a vital role in providing direct care to our residents, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist residents with daily living activities, such as ambulation, feeding, and grooming.
  • Encourage participation in activity programs and assist residents to and from activities.
  • Assist with meal service and nourishment delivery to residents, and provide feeding assistance as required.
  • Provide emotional and social support to residents and their families, including palliative care.
  • Adhere to established departmental policies and procedures regarding documentation, quality assurance, fire safety, and infection control.
  • Consult with and inform supervisors of unit activities, needs, and matters related to resident care.
  • Participate in care conferences and documentation related to resident care plans.

Requirements:

  • Completed a PSW program that meets the appropriate standards established by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, the National Association of Career Colleges, or the Ontario Community Support Association.
  • Experience in long-term care is an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience in care planning systems and documentation are required.
  • Mentally and physically able to perform duties as assigned.
  • Ability to communicate positively with other staff, residents, and families.
  • Demonstrates empathy, concern, and interest in providing quality care and service to residents.
  • Demonstrates organizational skills and ability to complete assignments in a timely fashion.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
