The Food and Nutrition Department is seeking dedicated Nutritional Support Aides to contribute to a vibrant team that ensures our Residents receive wholesome and appetizing meals, prepared and served with care. If you are enthusiastic about enhancing the lives of our Residents through quality service, this position may be ideal for you.
Reporting to the Food Service Manager, the Nutritional Support Aide plays a vital role in meal preparation and service. Responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness in dining, cooking, storage, and serving areas, as well as managing equipment. Adherence to established policies, procedures, and standards is essential.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve meals to residents in accordance with their dietary needs and preferences, ensuring timely service and proper food temperatures.
- Assist Cooks in the preparation and cleaning of raw ingredients such as salads, vegetables, and fruits, while following basic culinary instructions for simple dishes.
- Clear dining trays and plates, operate dishwashing equipment, and clean kitchen utensils as per standard procedures.
- Participate in the proper storage and labeling of dietary supplies and food items, including leftovers.
- Comply with departmental policies and procedures related to quality assurance, safety, environmental standards, and infection control.
- Assemble nourishment carts and stock unit kitchenettes as required.
- Attend facility meetings and participate in in-service training programs as assigned.
- Perform additional duties as directed by the Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program that meets the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act requirements is necessary. If enrolled, the program must be completed within three years of hire.
- Food Handlers Certificate is required.
- Previous experience in dietary services within a Long-Term Care setting is preferred (0-1 year).
- Ability to stand for extended periods is essential.
- Proficiency in reading and writing English, along with the ability to understand simple verbal and written instructions.
- Commitment to safety practices and procedures is crucial.
- Capability to perform moderate to heavy lifting is required.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays is expected.
