PCL Constructors Canada Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Construction Superintendent to join our team in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. As a key member of our construction team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery of our projects.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with project managers to develop and implement safety programs, ensuring compliance with all safety and record-keeping requirements.
  • Supervise and direct project teams, providing coaching, training, and mentorship to ensure high-quality results.
  • Effectively communicate with site personnel, ensuring performance, productivity, quality, and safety standards are met.
  • Proactively manage potential problems, work interferences, and schedule conflicts, developing and implementing recovery plans as needed.
  • Liaise with field engineers, estimators, and subcontractors to ensure construction adheres to drawings and specifications.
  • Communicate with clients, site contractors, union representatives, and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budget and quality standards.
  • Review and understand contracts and subcontracts, identifying and mitigating risks to ensure financial targets are met.
  • Build relationships with union and labor representatives, ensuring compliance with project labor agreements.
Qualifications
  • Journeyman certificate or undergraduate degree in a related field, with NCSO designation required and Gold Seal program enrollment preferred.
  • 15 years of progressive field supervision experience, with a proven track record of successfully supervising construction workforces.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction industry operations, including building materials, construction specifications, and methods and procedures.
  • Understanding of project scope and ability to apply intermediate-complex engineering principles to construction plans and schedules.
  • Proficient understanding of scheduling software and ability to coordinate multiple scopes of construction projects.
  • Thorough understanding of productivity rates, Labor Cost Reports, and contract language, with ability to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with ability to lead site meetings and present at client meetings.
  • Demonstrated conflict-resolution skills, problem-solving abilities, and professional judgment.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
