About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Construction Superintendent to join our team at PCL Constructors Canada Inc. in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with project managers to develop and implement project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of construction teams, including laborers, tradespeople, and engineers.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, regulations, and company policies.
  • Collaborate with clients, consultants, and stakeholders to resolve issues and address concerns.
  • Monitor and control project costs, including labor, materials, and equipment.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct site inspections, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare and submit reports, including project status updates, safety records, and quality control documents.

Requirements

  • 15 years of progressive experience in construction management, with a focus on building construction.
  • Journeyman certificate or undergraduate degree in a related field, such as construction management, engineering, or architecture.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing construction projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and quality control.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong knowledge of construction laws, regulations, and industry standards.
