About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Social Worker I to join our team at BC Mental Health and Substance Use Services. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to individuals with complex mental health and substance use challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive psycho-social assessments to identify client needs and develop effective treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide individual, family, and group counseling services, as well as case management and advocacy support.
  • Develop and maintain client records, ensuring accurate and timely documentation of client progress and outcomes.
  • Participate in clinical case conferences and contribute to the development of treatment plans and care coordination.
  • Provide education and support to clients and their families on mental health and substance use issues, as well as connect them with community resources and services.
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices and research in mental health and substance use, and apply this knowledge to inform practice and improve client outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Master of Social Work degree from an accredited program.
  • Minimum one year of post-graduate experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in mental health or substance use.
  • Current registration with the British Columbia College of Social Workers.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse client populations and healthcare teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
