Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Social Worker I to join our team at the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide therapeutic clinical counselling services to patients living with HIV/AIDS, substance use disorders, and mental health issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments to identify patient needs and develop treatment plans.
  • Provide individual and group therapy sessions to patients, focusing on coping skills, behavior change, and stress management.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, community agencies, and patients' families to coordinate care and services.
  • Develop and deliver education sessions and presentations to patients, staff, and community partners on HIV/AIDS, substance use, and mental health topics.
  • Participate in research projects and contribute to the development of evidence-based practices in social work.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, adhering to established standards and policies.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited university.
  • Two years of recent experience working with diverse populations, including those affected by HIV/AIDS, substance use, and mental health issues.
  • Current registration with the British Columbia College of Social Workers.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong knowledge of mental health and substance use issues, best practices, and evidence-based interventions.
