Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Social Worker I to join our team at BC Children's Hospital. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide comprehensive psycho-social assessments, counseling, and support to children and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct Comprehensive Assessments: Conduct thorough psycho-social assessments of children and their families, gathering relevant information and formulating a plan of intervention in accordance with professional practice standards and clinical policies.
  • Provide Counseling and Support: Offer individual, family, and group counseling to children and their families, focusing on their social, emotional, and cultural needs.
  • Develop and Implement Treatment Plans: Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement treatment plans that address the unique needs of each child and family.
  • Facilitate Group Work: Organize and facilitate psycho-educational and counseling groups to support children and their families.
  • Collaborate with Community Agencies: Establish and maintain effective relationships with community agencies, schools, and other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care for children and their families.
  • Participate in Program Planning: Contribute to program planning and development as part of an inter-professional team, identifying opportunities to enhance system processes and resources for children and their families.
  • Promote Patient-Centered Care: Participate in committee work to promote patient-centered care, ensuring that the needs and preferences of children and their families are respected and addressed.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Social Work: Possess a Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited school of social work.
  • Experience Working with Children and Families: Have a minimum of 1 year of recent experience working with children and their families in a healthcare or hospital setting, with a focus on mental health, child protection, child development, and other relevant areas.
  • Registration with the British Columbia College of Social Workers: Be currently registered with the British Columbia College of Social Workers.
