We are seeking a highly skilled Academic Cardiologist to join our team as a Heart Failure Specialist. This is a full-time appointment that will be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto with a position description as a Clinician Teacher, Clinician Investigator or Clinician-in-Quality and Innovation at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor.
The successful candidate will have broad clinical, teaching, quality improvement and research experience with advanced training in heart failure and cardiac intensive care. Quality improvement excellence will be assessed by the presence of dissemination of successful practices, significant invited presentations, awards, accolades and other related accomplishments. Teaching experience will be measured by the presence of a strong track record of interests and excellence in resident and fellow education, formal training in teaching methodology, awards, leadership as a clinical educator and other relevant experience. Research excellence will be assessed by the presence of research grants, publications in leading journals, invited presentations at significant conferences, awards, accolades and other related accomplishments.
The successful applicant will join the Division of Cardiology, which is one of the largest divisions within the Department of Medicine with 20 full-time and 25 part-time and community cardiologists. As a major provider of tertiary and quaternary cardiac services and leader in less invasive structural heart interventions, the Division of Cardiology serves as a regional cardiac referral centre for many complex cardiac procedures. Responsibilities will include excellence in clinical care of both in-patients and out-patients, liaison with primary care, supervision of trainees in clinical care setting, formal teaching and scholarly achievements.
The successful candidate must hold an MD degree; have or be eligible for certification in Cardiology/Internal Medicine from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and have or be eligible for licensure to practice from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
Remuneration will be commensurate with academic rank, qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will be eligible for membership in the Sunnybrook Department of Medicine Association through which clinical billings and benefits will be administered. The candidate will be able to participate in the department's group medical, dental and life insurance benefit plans.
