Job Title: Director of Public Relations

Job Summary:

Consumer Protection BC is seeking a highly skilled Director of Public Relations to lead all media and public relations activities on behalf of the organization. The successful candidate will act as the corporate spokesperson, prepare background materials, monitor and respond to media inquiries, and liaise regularly with leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic public relations, interest holder engagement, and media relations programs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the organization to ensure timely, audience-specific communications to regulated and licensed businesses, media partners, and the general public.
  • Cultivate relationships with media, consumer interest groups, and regulated sector groups.

Requirements:

  • Completion of post-secondary training in a related field (e.g., Public Relations, Communications) and/or several years of related experience in a similar environment and/or a combination of formal training and experience.
  • Significant experience acting as a corporate spokesperson and participating in media interviews and presenting to internal and external audiences.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to respond calmly in a variety of situations, including time-critical or crisis situations with a public-facing component.
