Fort St John, Canada Northern Health Authority Full time

We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse with a passion for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team in the Operating Room department at Fort St. John Hospital.

As part of our team, you will work closely with the care team in direct care activities such as assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating interventions, and coordinating health services for patients in the Emergency Department. You will also participate in discharge and/or care planning, function as a patient advocate, and teach patients and their families about illness/injury and overall health promotion and wellness.

You will establish, maintain, and enhance therapeutic relationships based on respect and provide care to patients across the lifespan and their families based on stable and/or predictable states of health by initiating and following established plans of care. You will recognize and respond to unexpected patient outcomes by communicating and collaborating with other members of the healthcare team.

The American Operating Room Nurses (AORN) Periop-101 course is a blended learning program that delivers standardized education on the foundational skills of perioperative nursing. The program includes a 7-week course using a blended learning approach and a practicum paired with a preceptor to consolidate skills.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to extend your nursing knowledge and skills in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality patient care and contribute to a positive and supportive work environment.

To be successful in this role, you must have graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses and one year recent experience working in a related area of care. You must also have current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

Key qualifications include the ability to perform nursing assessments and interventions related to common diagnoses and specific clinical situations relevant to the designated patient group. You must also demonstrate the ability to make sound clinical judgments to provide safe and ethical patient care and manage a select population of patients.

The estimated salary for this position is $85,000 - $105,000 per year, depending on experience. We offer comprehensive benefits packages, including extended health/dental and a municipal pension plan for part-time and full-time employees. Casuals have the option of paying for benefits. We also offer four weeks vacation with one year of continuous service and financial support for moving expenses for eligible positions.

Additional benefits include employee referral programs, employer-paid training and leadership development opportunities, and spectacular outdoor activities and the shortest commutes in BC. Loan forgiveness programs are also offered through the Federal and BC Government for eligible professions.

This is an excellent opportunity to advance your nursing career and contribute to the health and well-being of our community. If you are passionate about nursing and committed to delivering exceptional patient care, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
