About the Role

As a Project Architect at HDR, you will play a crucial role in leading a multidiscipline team and performing layout and detailing on architectural projects. Your expertise will be essential in coordinating the work of a multidiscipline team through multiple phases of a project, ensuring timely completion of documents and maintaining high-quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership: Lead a multidiscipline team and perform layout and detailing on architectural projects.
  • Project Coordination: Independently coordinate work of a multidiscipline team through multiple phases of a project.
  • Client and Internal Meetings: Establish owner/client and internal meetings, and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance.
  • Site Work Sessions: Conduct work sessions at project site in conjunction with Project Manager and other disciplines.
  • Workload Coordination: Coordinate workload of team members through multiple phases to complete documents on schedule.
  • Document Review: Review architectural documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines.
  • QA/QC and Technical Reviews: Perform QA/QC and technical reviews.
  • Specifications Writing: Write and edit architectural specifications.
  • Change Management: Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders.
  • Project Administration: Incorporate agreed-upon changes into project documents.
  • Dual Management: Lead projects in a dual management role as needed.
  • Construction Contract Administration: Provide construction contract administration as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Architecture: Master's degree in Architecture.
  • Experience in Education, Science and Research Facilities: Experience in the areas of education, science and research facilities.
  • Sustainable Design/LEED Experience: Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired.
  • Software Proficiency: Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, SketchUp and 3-D Studio Max.
  • Rhino and Grasshopper Experience: Rhino and Grasshopper experience.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or Closely Related Field: Bachelor's degree in Architecture or closely related field.
  • Minimum 5 Years Experience: A minimum of 5 years experience.
  • Registered Architect: Registered Architect.
  • Microsoft Office Proficiency: Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project Schedule).
  • Excellent Communication and Analytical Skills: Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Autodesk Revit Proficiency: Proficient in use of Autodesk Revit and familiarity with related tools and process.
  • Graphic Presentation Skills: Demonstrated graphic presentation skills.
  • Contract Document Preparation: Must have experience in preparation and layout of architectural contract documents and specifications.
  • Knowledge of Codes and Planning Skills: Strong knowledge of codes and good planning skills.
