About the Role

We're seeking a Senior Construction Administrator to manage architectural projects during construction. As the architect's representative, you'll ensure that projects align with plans and specifications. Your daily tasks will include handling construction administration, maintaining organized records, and fostering positive relationships with team members, consultants, and clients.

Responsibilities
  • Project Administration: Maintain accurate records and documentation for construction projects.
  • Relationship Building: Foster strong relationships with team members, consultants, contractors, and clients.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to company, professional, and local standards.
  • Documentation: Keep project documentation current, including site instructions and change orders.
  • Issue Resolution: Review shop drawings and address construction issues promptly.
  • Communication: Provide instructions and respond to inquiries from contractors.
  • Change Coordination: Coordinate change notices and subcontractors.
  • Site Meetings: Attend site meetings and conduct reviews to ensure adherence to plans.
  • Progress Review: Review contractor progress and issue certificates and reports as needed.
  • Project Closeout: Coordinate project closeout and communicate closely with the design team.
  • Peer Review: Conduct peer reviews of construction documents prior to issuance.
Requirements
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Construction Administration: Proven construction administration experience in an architecture firm, ideally with institutional building types.
  • Contract Knowledge: Familiarity with stipulated sum contracts like CCDC-2 and converted CM contracts such as CCDC-5B.
  • Preferred Experience: Experience with Construction Management, Design-Build, or IPD projects.
  • Industry Experience: Previous construction industry experience is an asset.

  • Time Management: Strong time management and multitasking abilities.
  • Documentation Management: Neat and orderly documentation management.
  • Response Time: Prompt response to inquiries and reviews.
Technical Skills
  • Building Science: Proficient in building science and construction methods.
  • Design Feedback: Experienced in providing design feedback and troubleshooting.
  • Software Proficiency: Familiarity with Revit and contract-related software preferred.
Education
  • Diploma or Degree: Diploma from a two-year technical program or degree in architecture preferred.
