We're seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Claims Assistant II to support our growing team. As a key member of our team, you will provide administrative support to our lawyers, ensuring the smooth operation of our practice.
Key Responsibilities- Provide administrative support, including scheduling meetings, drafting correspondence, and preparing pleadings and affidavits.
- Manage files and implement an effective diary system to help manage the lawyer's practice.
- Partner with assigned lawyers to manage workflow, schedule appearances, and monitor calendars and deadlines.
- Support clients in scheduling appointments, exchanging information, and communicating file progress.
- Review and manage documents using software programs, ensuring electronic filing is up to date.
- Provide support to assistants, clerks, lawyers, and management, including tasks such as preparing undertaking charts, corresponding with counsel, and reviewing answers received.
- College diploma from a legal office administration or law clerk program, or equivalent education and experience.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years' experience in a law firm, with insurance defence litigation experience an asset.
- Proficiency in English and French, oral and written.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong document management skills and ability to learn and utilize Intact's software programs.
- Excellent attention to detail and proofreading skills.
- Ability to prioritize and organize with a disciplined approach to work.
- Superior communication, listening, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work in a team or independently, exercise sound judgment, and take initiative.
