About the Role

Newtech Renovation Inc is seeking a skilled Drywall Installation Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our construction crew, you will be responsible for installing drywall sheets, taping joints, and applying successive coats of compound to create smooth surfaces.

Key Responsibilities
  • Installation and Finishing
    • Measure, cut, and install drywall sheets to ensure a precise fit
    • Tape over joints using a taping machine and embed tape in compound
    • Apply successive coats of compound and sand seams and joints to achieve a smooth finish
  • Surface Preparation
    • Clean and prepare surfaces for drywall installation
    • Cure freshly plastered surfaces to ensure a strong bond
  • Specialized Tasks
    • Cut and install metal corner beads to protect exterior corners
    • Fabricate and install suspended metal ceiling grids and place in panels to form acoustical and coffered ceilings
    • Mould and install ornamental plaster panels, cornices, and trim
  • Health and Safety
    • Utilize laser alignment systems to ensure accurate measurements and installations
    • Erect and install scaffolding, falsework, and other working platforms to ensure safe access to work areas
  • Communication and Teamwork
    • Collaborate with other construction crew members to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow
    • Communicate effectively with supervisors and clients to ensure project requirements are met
Requirements
  • College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year
  • 1 to less than 7 months of experience in drywall installation and finishing
  • Ability to work 35 hours per week
  • English language proficiency
