Exciting Opportunity for a Part-time Commis Chef

Shorelines Casino Belleville is seeking a skilled and motivated Part-time Commis Chef to join our culinary team. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking food products to the highest standards, while maintaining a safe and welcoming work environment for all employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook food products as directed, ensuring high-quality presentation and taste.
  • Assist in the preparation of mise en place and other products as required for high-volume production.
  • Clean and maintain kitchen equipment and facilities, adhering to health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Receive and store stock, labeling and dating items as required.
  • Count and manage inventory, ensuring accurate records and minimizing waste.
  • Participate in monthly culinary meetings to discuss menu planning, inventory management, and other kitchen-related topics.
  • Liaise with operational departments to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Develop strong working relationships with colleagues, guests, and ownership, providing exceptional customer service and exceeding expectations.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing laws, health and safety regulations, and other statutory requirements.

Requirements:

  • Culinary education or equivalent experience, with a Safe Food Handling Certificate.
  • Minimum 6 months of culinary experience, with a strong commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
  • High School diploma, with bilingualism (English/French) an asset but not required.

Work Environment Considerations:

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, within a 24/7 operation.
  • Willingness to submit to a criminal record check, with results acceptable to our organization.
