About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Culinary Professional to join our team at Kid's Mondo Childcare Centre Inc. as a Cook.

Key Responsibilities
  • Food Preparation and Service
    • Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods for children and staff.
    • Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances.
  • Kitchen Management
    • Inspect kitchens and food service areas to ensure cleanliness and safety standards are met.
    • Train staff in preparation, cooking, and handling of food.
    • Order supplies and equipment as needed.
    • Supervise kitchen staff and helpers.
    • Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies, and equipment.
    • Clean kitchen and work areas.
    • Manage kitchen operations to ensure efficient and safe food service.
  • Certifications and Compliance
    • Ensure all staff have the necessary certifications, such as Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate, Safe Food Handling certificate, Food Safety Certificate, First Aid Certificate, and CPR Certificate.
    • Conduct regular checks to ensure compliance with food safety and handling regulations.
  • Teamwork and Communication
    • Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth food service operations.
    • Communicate effectively with staff, management, and parents to ensure their needs are met.
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Develop and implement menus that meet the dietary needs of children and staff.
    • Monitor and control food costs to ensure budgetary targets are met.
    • Participate in staff training and development programs to enhance culinary skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience.
  • Work Experience
    • At least 7 months of experience in a similar role.
  • Certifications and Licenses
    • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate.
    • Safe Food Handling certificate.
    • Food Safety Certificate.
    • First Aid Certificate.
    • CPR Certificate.
  • Personal Qualities
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
    • Attention to detail and ability to multitask.
