Primary Responsibilities:

As a key member of our health and wellness team at Alamos Gold, the Occupational Health Nurse will play a vital role in promoting a safe and healthy work environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating and treating injuries and illnesses within the scope of practice, managing WSIB claims and modified work plans, and providing support to employees and supervisors in return-to-work plans. Additional responsibilities include organizing and administering worker health education and counselling services, performing various workplace testing programs, maintaining accurate employee medical records, and liaising with outside health organizations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong nursing background, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Requirements:

To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you will need to possess a BScN designation or College Diploma, be a member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario, and hold a designation in Occupational Health Nursing or demonstrate a willingness to acquire one. A minimum of 3 years' experience as a RN or 2 years' experience as a OHN in a heavy industry environment is also required. You will have the ability to plan and schedule programs and activities, possess a high level of energy and self-motivation, and be comfortable with public speaking in large groups. Familiarity with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ontario Regulations for Mines and Mining Plants, and Ontario Human Rights legislation is also essential. Bilingualism (French and English) is preferred.
