Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement child-care programs that meet the needs of children and align with our centre's goals and objectives.
  • Supervise and train staff, trainees, or volunteers to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide high-quality care and education to children.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians to keep them informed about their child's progress and any issues that may arise.
  • Assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
  • Order supplies and equipment as needed to ensure the centre has the necessary resources to provide a safe and healthy environment for children.
  • Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records and maintaining accurate and up-to-date information about children's progress and development.
  • Guide and assist children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
  • Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors.
  • Discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings to ensure that everyone is aware of the needs and challenges of each child.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children.
  • Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children.
  • Plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants.
Requirements
  • Member of the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE)
  • Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate
  • 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in a related field
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Organized and efficient with a strong attention to detail
