Job Title: Education Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Education Assistant to join our team at Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Separate School Division.

Job Summary:

The Education Assistant will provide support to students with various degrees of need in the learning environment under the direction and supervision of the Inclusive Education Liaison, the classroom teacher, and the principal.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide assistance to students with special programming needs in the learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with the Inclusive Education Liaison, classroom teacher, and principal to develop and implement individualized support plans.
  • Assist students with physical and emotional needs, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Participate in team-based learning structures to support student success.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all school policies and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Education Assistant Certificate and/or Diploma or Rehabilitation Practitioner Certificate and/or Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one-year experience working with students with special programming needs.
  • First Aid training.
  • Supporting Individuals through Valued Attachments Training (SIVA) Certificate.
  • Training and experience with augmentative communication systems.
  • Experience working on academic goals with students who have multiple barriers.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Brain Story Certification through Alberta Family Wellness.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to take responsibility for individual student needs.
