Job Title: Education Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Education Assistant to join our team at Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Separate School Division.

Job Summary:

The Education Assistant will provide support to students with various degrees of need in the learning environment under the direction and supervision of the Inclusive Education Liaison, the classroom teacher, and the principal.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist students with special programming needs in the learning environment
  • Provide physical support to students as required
  • Maintain confidentiality of all aspects of the school community
  • Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and other school staff
  • Participate in new learning opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge
  • Take responsibility for individual student needs and contribute to a collaborative team-based learning structure
Requirements:
  • Education Assistant Certificate and/or Diploma or Rehabilitation Practitioner Certificate and/or Diploma or equivalent
  • At least one-year experience working with students with special programming needs
  • First Aid training
  • Supporting Individuals through Valued Attachments Training (SIVA) Certificate
  • Training and experience with augmentative communication systems
  • Experience working on academic goals with students who have multiple barriers
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Brain Story Certification through Alberta Family Wellness
