Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Consultant to join our Vancouver Development Advisory Team at Altus Group.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Cost Planning expert to lead a team of consultants and drive projects to completion. The successful candidate will oversee client delivery, revenue management, company development, technical competence, and consultant team leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct quantity surveying and cost planning activities on construction projects in British Columbia and occasionally assist with projects in other Canadian and US regions.
  • Review and interpret design documents to measure and quantify building elements, apply appropriate pricing, prepare Class D to Class A estimates (conceptual to detailed estimate stages), tender reviews, and change order reviews within deadlines.
  • Analyze project estimates using benchmarking data, including unit rates and costs for assets, facilities, and structures.
  • Conduct technical reviews and quality assurance of reports provided by others to ensure billable quality before client delivery.
  • Oversee collection, analysis, and interpretation of cost and schedule data.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor team members, managing training and development needs for workforce competency and ensuring team understanding and adherence to Altus policies.
  • Manage client communications as principal contact and cultivate long-term client relationships to increase income through repeat business and referrals.
  • Prepare fee proposals for client requests and RFPs, leveraging current market knowledge for Cost Planning services.
  • Provide accurate and timely internal billing memos to support client invoice creation and follow up on delinquent invoices.
Requirements
  • Post-Secondary Technical Diploma in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Building Sciences, Construction, Quantity Surveying, or similar subjects.
  • CIQS Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS), Construction Estimator Certified (CEC), or RICS Member (MRICS) certification.
  • 7+ years of expertise in Quantity Surveying, Estimating, Construction, or Project Management, and 5+ years of leadership experience in Construction Consulting.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the cost management consulting and advisory industry.
  • Expertise in local / provincial construction, including commercial, institutional, multi-family residential, and public sector projects, as well as owners, contractors, sub-trades, contracts, Lien Acts, pricing, and measurement methods.
  • Proficient with MS Office, CostX, and other computer-based measurement and estimating software.
  • Strong communication abilities, including report writing and presentation.
Estimated Salary Range:

$120,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on experience.
