Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Portfolio Leader to join our team at NBC. As a key member of our Commercial Banking department, you will play a leading role in the strategic support of companies across Canada.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing consulting services to clients, leveraging your high-level professional knowledge and experience
  • Achieving clients' business objectives by proposing financial strategies based on an optimal combination of specialized financing products
  • Participating in the development of sector-specific funding strategies and guidelines in support of VPAs
  • Supporting account managers and senior managers during the implementation of new financing files and at all stages of monitoring and renewal of a file
  • Identifying financial risks to the Bank with respect to financing and making recommendations to reduce or eliminate them
  • Participating in the preparation of files, including the analysis and establishment of financing structures for companies
  • In some cases, collaborating with the account manager, participating in preliminary meetings as well as the presentation of financing sketches to clients
  • Participating in negotiations with internal stakeholders (legal advisors, credit department, syndication service, etc.) and external stakeholders (legal advisors, other financial institutions, customers, prospects, etc.)
  • Using credit risk and profitability assessment tools to ensure compliance with funding and risk management policies and standards

About the Role

As a Strategic Portfolio Leader, you will be part of a large team of expert colleagues and report to the Director credit risk underwriting. Our team stands out for its expertise in complex credit structuring and execution. We work in a hybrid mode.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A completed bachelor's degree, related to the industry, and 7 years of relevant experience OR a completed Master's degree, related to the industry, and 5 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in complex trade credit, acquisition loans, and knowledge of business products and services
  • Experience analyzing complex financial models
  • Experience in customer service, negotiation, and business development
  • Ability to manage priorities and timelines
  • Interpersonal skills and team player
  • Knowledge of capital market debt instruments an asset
  • Experience in syndicated financing an asset

Language

Language: English

Reason to require this language: you will need to serve clients who speak a language other than French regularly.
