About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Team Lead to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a key member of our mental health services team, you will be responsible for providing leadership and guidance to our clinical staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide education and training to various stakeholders, including VAC District offices, RCMP, and DND, on the development of treatment plans and referrals.
  • Maintain contact with referring VAC area counsellors, RCMP, and DND to ensure effective collaboration and communication.
  • Utilize OSI-supported telemental health and other distance technologies to provide services in outlying communities.
  • Work with the Canadian network of OSI clinics and follow the leadership of the Operational Stress Injuries National Network.
  • Ensure compliance with staff and patient/client safety practices, policies, and procedures of the NSHA and VAC guidelines for OSI clinics.
  • Provide specialized psychological testing and therapy as needed and within the scope of practice.
  • Provide regular opportunities for individual consultation with psychology staff.
  • Review and meet with Candidate Register psychologists and provide a second signature on assessments when needed.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members in achieving national OSI network objectives.
  • Supervise NSOSIC clinicians in standard protocols.
  • Support Operational Leadership with Psychology applicant interviews.
  • Participate in regular file administrative audits involving the Clinical Lead and Health Services Manager.
  • Chair NSOSIC Discipline/Practice groups for psychology.
  • Support orientation and training for new staff.
  • Work cooperatively and collaboratively with the manager, clinical director, and clinical team lead to determine priorities and areas of focus.
  • Organize and co-facilitate client care conferences and promote full participation in interdisciplinary team discussions.
  • Monitor the Collaborative Interprofessional Care (CIC) model as set out in the NSOSIC guidelines.
  • Actively use and lead the use of outcome monitoring (e.g., CROMIS).
  • Provide clinical mentorship and coaching to support both the academic role and clinical practice of other team members.
  • Assist in developing educational initiatives and provide direction and coaching/mentoring to new or less experienced clinicians.
  • Assist in developing and providing appropriate orientation activities/learning events for new staff.
  • Review applications of students at the NSOSIC when appropriate.
  • Attend service, program, and team meetings as required.
  • Attend and participate in intake meetings to decide on client assignment.
  • Record and maintain workload and other statistical data to account for careload balance.
  • Participate in Psychology recruitment initiatives when needed.
About You

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced clinical psychologist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a recognized doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, be registered or eligible for registration under the Psychologists Act of Nova Scotia, and have completed a CPA/APA accredited internship/residency in clinical psychology.

The successful candidate will have clinical experience in the diagnosis and treatment of anxiety and mood disorders, substance use disorders, and PTSD using evidence-based approaches. Experience working in an interdisciplinary service delivery model is mandatory, and experience in a military or police service environment is an asset.

The ideal candidate will have excellent leadership and communication skills, be able to establish and maintain good working relations, and have effective mentoring and clinical supervision skills to support both the academic role and clinical practice of other team members.

A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle are required. Competencies in other languages are an asset, with French being preferred.

Hours
  • Permanent, Full-Time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
Compensation and Incentives

$51.37-$66.32 Hourly
