Job Summary

The Senior HSE Specialist will be a key member of the Corporate Affairs & Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) team, reporting to the HSE Manager, Eastern Region. This role will focus on coordinating, implementing, and maintaining health, safety, and environmental programs primarily for the Eastern Canada region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage environmental and health and safety programs to ensure sustainability of Graymont's internal HSE standards.
  • Lead or assist with environmental permit requirements, including support of timely completion of mandatory reports.
  • Provide training and/or support for compliance and internal standard requirements.
  • Support and/or facilitate HSE incident investigations using root cause analysis methodologies to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Participate in company internal health, safety, and environmental audits.
  • Support and influence the local Health, Safety, and Environmental committees to foster HSE growth.
  • Provide oversight and coordinate ECAN compliance support activities, including reporting to ensure all reports are completed accurately and on time to provincial and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Ensure alignment within the plants to promote growth of the site level HSE personnel, staff, and front-line employees while promoting the OneGraymont culture.
Requirements
  • Science/Engineering related bachelor's degree required, with a degree in Health, Safety, or Environmental emphasis preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience managing environmental, health, and safety requirements for an industrial operation.
  • Experiencing interacting with regulatory agencies, CNESST, and WCB preferred.
  • Project management experience and qualifications preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to influence others in decision making.
  • Ability to work and solve problems independently.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask, prioritize, and organize.
  • Successful in both team and individual-based work environments.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with limited direction and to function as a team member.
  • Proficient in basic computer software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Relational Databases).
  • Bilingual (French & English) is a must.
