About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Guide Dog Mobility Specialist to join our team at CNIB Foundation. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in empowering individuals who are blind or partially sighted to live independently and confidently.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement training programs for guide dog users, ensuring that they receive personalized support and guidance to achieve their mobility goals.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of guide dogs to identify their strengths and areas for improvement, matching them with participants who require their skills.
  • Create customized mobility plans tailored to each participant's needs, taking into account their lifestyle, preferences, and goals.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, responding to participant inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure seamless delivery of services, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • A degree or diploma in a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Hold a GDMI qualification or certificate recognized by the International Guide Dog Federation (IGDF).
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Proven experience working with guide dogs, preferably in a training or instructional capacity.
  • A valid driver's license and ability to travel as required.
