About the Role:

Voyago seeks an experienced Health and Safety Coordinator to join our team in Ottawa.

This critical role reports directly to the Health and Safety Manager and focuses on ensuring our high standards of health and safety are maintained.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong knowledge of Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Transportation standards, and Transdev's Global Policies and Procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Support the Health and Safety Manager in developing and implementing policies in response to changing legislation.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of current legislation related to employment law, WSIB, Labour Relations Act, Employment Standards Act, and Human Rights Code.
  • Collaborate with Local JHSC meetings, initiatives, and programs, ensuring company contractor compliance.

Audits:

  • Complete monthly field audits at each location, including facility and field audits, truck audits, etc.
  • Follow up on employee complaints related to health and safety and communicate with the Health and Safety Manager.
  • Complete scorecards monthly for all locations/divisions.

WSIB:

  • Assist the Health and Safety Manager with claims from start to completion.
  • Liaise with WSIB case managers to ensure timely submission of paperwork and employee updates.
  • Organize and enter WSIB documentation into a spreadsheet.
  • Complete trending analysis on injury statistics and communicate with management.

Incident and Collision Analysis and Reporting:

  • Ensure timely incident and collision reporting, establishing follow-up as necessary.
  • Enter collision and incident reports into analysis and identify trends in recent incidents and collisions.

Requirements:

Your Profile:

  • A University/College Degree or Equivalent education.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience working in the transportation industry is preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Availability to work flexible hours for audits.
  • Ability to travel throughout Eastern and Northern Ontario.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • A minimum full G driver's license.
  • A clean driver's abstract and a criminal record search with a vulnerable sector check.
  • Proven excellent customer service experience.
  • Strong planning and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • OCCUPATIONAL Health and Safety Certification or working towards it is an asset.
  • JHSC Certification or experience is an asset.
  • First aid, CPR, or other relevant medical training is an asset.
  • Deep knowledge of current legislation relating to employment law is an asset.
