About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Metadata Production and Electronic Access Specialist to join our team at the University of Toronto Libraries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Scholars Portal content team in building the Scholars Portal Journals Trustworthy Digital Repository.
  • Perform quality control on new and existing journals metadata.
  • Address journals coverage issues flagged by Scholars Portal staff or CRKN members.
  • Maintain accurate collections and journals entitlements for expanding access to the Scholars Portal Journals platform.
  • Collaborate with technical and e-resources staff at Scholars Portal and universities nationwide.
  • Work with vendors, publishers, and discovery layer providers to ensure accurate holdings and maintain policies and procedures.
  • Participate in title list evaluations, reconciliations, and monitoring from content providers.

Requirements

  • University degree or acceptable combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum five years related experience in research or library settings.
  • Experience with electronic journals, metadata records, and Electronic Resource Management Systems.
  • Consortially licensed resource experience an asset.
  • Knowledge of MARC formats and MARC record editing software required.
  • XML markup language knowledge required; XML transformations, document, and schema management an asset.
  • Working knowledge of Excel.
  • Familiarity with ONIX and MarkLogic an asset.
