About the Role

The Health Promotion Educator - Harm Reduction is a key member of the AVI Health and Community Services team, responsible for providing education, training, and support to individuals and communities affected by harm reduction and health promotion initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver educational workshops, programs, and events on harm reduction, health promotion, and related topics.
  • Provide one-on-one education, information, and support to individuals and communities.
  • Collaborate with community organizations, service providers, and stakeholders to promote harm reduction and health promotion initiatives.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of harm reduction and health promotion strategies and policies.
  • Conduct research and analysis on harm reduction and health promotion trends and best practices.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of team goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • Strong understanding of harm reduction and health promotion principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong project management and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in harm reduction and health promotion.
  • Knowledge of community development and social justice principles.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and communities.
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed care and cultural humility.
