Lead the site's health and safety program to ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory policies.

  • Develop and implement effective health and safety strategies to minimize risks and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with employees and management to promote a culture of safety and well-being.
  • Administer Workers Compensation claims and reports, and oversee the WSIB program.
  • Identify training needs and deliver skill-building programs to employees and managers.
  • Participate in monthly inspections and safety talks, and create and review policies and procedures.
  • Conduct risk assessments and facilitate root cause analysis and action plan development for recordable incidents.
  • Track progress and provide updates to the management team.
  • Ensure required training is assigned and completed by employees.
  • Review contractor safety guidelines and practices to ensure compliance.
  • Organize the plant Safety Committee and implement recommendations.
  • Build a positive safety culture and promote a safe working environment.
About You:
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in an occupational health and safety role.
  • Excellent knowledge of governing occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Experience with WSIB claims and return-to-work plans.
  • Ability to manage sensitive information and lead others in a positive manner.
  • Self-motivated, action-oriented, and able to multitask.
  • Detail-oriented and organized.
  • Strong prioritization, decision-making, and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to offer excellent customer service and work with diverse personalities.
  • Good listening, fact-finding, conflict management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (presentation, report writing).
  • Ability to drive projects to completion and support a 24/7 work environment.
Additional Information:
  • Travel requirements: 15% subject to the requirement.
  • Must be able to freely move around the entire facility.
  • Must be comfortable sitting at a computer terminal for long periods of time.
