Job Summary:

The Production Shift Supervisor coordinates and oversees production operations involved in the manufacturing process. This role requires independent judgment in performing responsibilities and works under general supervision on assigned objectives. The successful candidate will exercise direct or indirect supervision over hourly production employees and may also supervise directly and indirectly personnel working on the off shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
  • Supervise and coordinate all Production shift personnel to ensure each individual works in a safe and efficient manner to produce conforming product at all times.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by enforcing all company safety guidelines and OHS Act and regulations.
  • Ensure environmental guidelines are followed to address environmental performance (plume management, spills, housekeeping, etc.) according to the company procedures and Ministry of Environment guidelines.
  • Quality control of products according to the company quality management system.
  • Support and enforce the requirements of the facility's Port Security plan.
  • Report and follow up on incidents.
  • Organize payroll information for Production shift employees.
  • Organize vacation times and maintain vacation, overtime, and coverage schedules for shift employees working within the Production department.
  • Ensure Kiln and Mill outputs meet Production budget requirements.
  • Maintain inventory of products in cement silos, clinker silos, raw mill silos, and of all fuels.
  • Manage storage hall for all raw materials together with the IPT Department.
  • Distribute and collect variance sheets from Operators.
  • Enter work notifications in SAP.
  • Determine the training needs of all supervised personnel and inform the Production Manager of specific training needs.
  • Additional duties as assigned by the manager.

Requirements:

  • Ability to read, write, and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
  • Minimum of a College Diploma in Engineering or Mechanical Millwright Trade Apprenticeship is required.
  • University Degree in Engineering, with a strong technical background, is preferred.
  • Experience working within a Heavy Industrial Manufacturing environment is preferred.
