Job Title: Director, Communications and Marketing

As the largest amateur multi-sport competition in the country, the Canada Games bring together over 3,000 high calibre athletes and coaches in more than twenty disciplines. Alternating between summer and winter, every two years, they showcase the immense talent and perseverance of our champions. The winter edition of the Canada Games will take place in Québec City from February 26 to March 15, 2027.

Job Overview

The Director, Communications and Marketing will be responsible for shining a spotlight on the 2027 Canada Games brand. Reporting to the Chief Partnerships and Community Relations Officer, this experienced manager will build strong relationships with the media, plan the broadcast of the Canada Games, ensure compliance with both official languages, promote the 2027 Games, and create a distinctive image that Québec City will be proud of.

Responsibilities
  • Supervising, motivating, and leading a multidisciplinary team of around 5 employees;
  • Planning and coordinating communication and marketing strategies, including awareness and promotion of the Games, digital platforms, volunteer recruitment, philanthropic campaign, creating advertising campaigns, acting as a communications and public/media relations expert, planning and implementing a media production, distribution, and marketing strategy, building strategic partnerships, recruiting and managing communications and marketing volunteers, providing unifying leadership to team members, and maintaining healthy, positive relationships.

  • Ability to deliver expected results within tight deadlines;
  • Attention to detail, thoroughness, and flawless spelling;
  • A good eye for design and branding;
  • Initiative and autonomy;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with short deadlines;
  • Strong change and risk management skills, including prioritization, planning, and follow-up;
  • Solid experience in project, team, and budget management;
  • Proficiency in both French and English, spoken and written;
  • Experience in event planning or with an agency: an asset;
  • The successful candidate must reside in the Québec City region.
