About the Role

The Senior Director of Communications will play a key role in advancing the union's mission, expanding its reach, and growing its membership. This position will oversee all communications activities, ranging from member updates to media messaging, and support scalable operations to ensure swift and impactful communication with members, prospective members, and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive communications strategies to promote the union's mission and goals
  • Manage and maintain the union's brand and reputation through various channels, including print, social media, and online communications
  • Collaborate with the Managing Director, Member Engagement & Growth, to ensure alignment with the union's overall strategy and objectives
  • Lead a team of communications professionals to achieve key performance indicators and deliverables
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in communications and public relations

Requirements

  • Significant communications leadership experience in a unionized environment
  • Proven track record of successful campaign and event management
  • Extensive writing and editing experience across print, social media, and online communications and campaigns
  • Political acumen and enhanced proficiency in utilizing modern communication tools
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines
