About the Role:

The Director, Health, Safety, Environment, Community (HSEC) will be responsible for implementing and maintaining an environmental health and safety program that involves hazard identification, evaluation, and control, accident/injury prevention, hazardous material/waste management, emergency preparedness, fire/life safety, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, and environmental regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a culture of visible Health & Safety leadership and project execution excellence to represent the core values of Svante to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Interface with all departments to ensure Svante is in compliance with all Federal, State, Provincial, and Local regulations in the jurisdictions in which we operate.
  • Create and maintain a culture of safety as everyone's responsibility.
  • Operationalize the HSEC Plan through leading the HSEC team, and all programs, processes, policy, and other means in service of a culture of safety.
  • Provide HSEC leadership, training, and operational support to all levels of the organization and across all functional groups.
  • Maintain excellent relationships across all departments to ensure effectiveness of the HSEC Plan, listening to customer needs, and building leader capabilities to ensure safe work practices are in place throughout the organization.
  • Establish systems for regular auditing, measurement, and reporting of HSEC Goals and KPIs.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Construction & Facilities on special projects involving plant construction, equipment design, and hazardous assessments.

Requirements:

  • Minimum + years of experience as a Senior Leader in HSEC, with - years of experience in manufacturing, laboratory, construction, or engineering technology environments.
  • Education and certifications in HSEC that ensure implementation of HSEC Best Practices.
  • Ability to exercise broad judgment within generally defined practices and policies.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with leaders and influence change.
  • Strong customer service skills, including ability to build credibility and trust.
  • Excellent team leadership skills, with a proven track record of employee development and mentorship.
