About the Role

The Health and Safety Manager will play a key role in ensuring compliance with all applicable legislation and contractual requirements related to environmental, health, and safety. This includes monitoring and enforcing adherence to internal policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement effective health and safety strategies to minimize liability and ensure due diligence.
  • Provide recommendations on HSE matters at all levels of the organization.
  • Manage internal and external safety and environmental systems for the company and its clients.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with internal and external clients on all environment, health, and safety matters.
  • Develop and manage corporate training programs to enhance employee knowledge and skills.
  • Develop and manage corporate early and safe return to work programs.
  • Develop and report key safety metrics and related reports.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of environmental, health, and safety principles and practices.
  • Bilingualism is an asset.
  • Hold a university degree in a relevant field.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in a related field.
  • Computer proficiency and effective interpersonal skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective training and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to understand complex processes.
  • Project management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Canadian registered safety professional from the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals.
  • Registered Occupational Hygienist.
  • Certified Safety Professional.
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist.
  • Certified Health and Safety Consultant from the Canadian Society of Engineering.
