Operations Manager for Mental Health Services

We are seeking a skilled Operations Manager to join our Mental Health team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. This is a leadership role that requires a strong background in healthcare operations, with a focus on managing physical, financial, and human resources. The successful candidate will provide collaborative leadership in managing the efficient and effective operation of the Program and high-quality accessible patient care services.
The Operations Manager will be responsible for participating in committees, monitoring patient care standards, collaborating with quality facilitators, mentoring team members, and managing performance issues. They will also be responsible for managing day-to-day operational expenditures, reviewing fiscal performance data, and coordinating the purchasing of capital equipment and supplies.
The ideal candidate will have a baccalaureate degree in a health-related field, current registration with the appropriate licensing body of Nova Scotia, and a minimum of three years of experience in a related clinical role. They will also have two to three years of related leadership experience, knowledge of program-based care, trauma-informed care, and patient-family-centered care, and experience in building teams and maintaining healthy work environments.

Key Responsibilities- Provide collaborative leadership in managing the efficient and effective operation of the Program and high-quality accessible patient care services.
- Participate in committees associated with the work of the care team(s) and the Health Centre.
- Monitor and evaluate patient care standards and make recommendations and/or take action to effect necessary change.
- Collaborate with quality facilitators to ensure quality improvement and risk management activities are coordinated in an efficient and effective manner.
- Mentor team members by supporting, teaching, role modeling, and coaching in an effective manner.
- Manage performance issues on an ongoing basis in accordance with Health Centre policy.
- Manage day-to-day operational expenditures of the care area(s) in a fiscally prudent manner.
- Review fiscal performance data to monitor expenditures, analyze trends, and develop strategies to address, in consultation with the Clinical Manager.
- Coordinate the purchasing of capital equipment, auxiliary amenities, and supplies to ensure requirements are met.
- Participate in the completion of variance reports for review by the Director.
