Mental Health Nurse Specialist

As a Registered Nurse in our Children's Intensive Service (CIS), you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to children under 13 years old who require inpatient mental health treatment.
The OpportunityCIS is a rehabilitative mental health setting where children can receive comprehensive care and support. Our interdisciplinary team works collaboratively to develop individualized care plans that address the unique needs of each child. As a RN, you will work closely with the patient and their family to ensure their goals and priorities are met.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing safe and competent nursing care to children under 13 years old
- Developing and implementing individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
- Administering medications and monitoring their effectiveness
- Preparing children and families for weekend or overnight passes
In addition to your clinical expertise, you will also be responsible for ensuring that all aspects of care are family-centered and prioritize the needs of the child and their family. This includes using evidence-based practices such as Collaborative Problem-Solving (CPS) to support the development of adaptive living skills.

What You Will NeedTo be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- Registration with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Experience working with children and adolescents in a mental health setting
- Demonstrated knowledge of Collaborative Problem-Solving and family-centred care
We offer a competitive salary of $48.44 - $61.73 per hour, depending on experience.
