Director, Advanced Analytics - Exploration

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and evolve Wawanesa's Data & Analytics strategy, ensuring alignment with emerging opportunities in advanced analytics.
  • Lead the exploration of new and emerging analytics opportunities, ensuring alignment with Wawanesa's overall business strategy and long-term goals.
  • Assess and prioritize advanced analytics initiatives, particularly those focused on Artificial Intelligence, based on potential impact, feasibility, and alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization, including senior leadership, to ensure alignment on analytics initiatives and priorities.
  • Communicate complex analytical concepts and potential opportunities to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and compelling manner.
  • Leverage business acumen and insurance knowledge to maximize the success of the advanced analytics exploration team.
  • Collaborate with the Director, Model Operations to ensure a seamless transition from exploration to operationalization of analytics models.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of analytics professionals focused on the exploration and development of new analytics capabilities.
  • Stay abreast of the latest trends, tools, and best practices in advanced analytics, particularly in Artificial Intelligence.
  • Identify and implement improvements to the advanced analytics operating model and exploration processes to increase efficiency, effectiveness, and impact.
  • Encourage collaboration and knowledge sharing within the team and across departments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in advanced analytics, with a strong track record of identifying and developing new analytics capabilities, especially in Artificial Intelligence.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex analytics projects from concept to execution.
  • Strong understanding of advanced analytics techniques, tools, and emerging technologies, with a particular focus on Artificial Intelligence.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and drive innovation in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience in insurance or financial services is an asset.
