Job Title: AVP, Canadian Product Tax

The Canadian Product Tax team at Manulife is seeking a highly skilled and experienced AVP to lead the team and provide tax advisory services related to Manulife products and customers. The successful candidate will have a strong background in Canadian tax law and experience in managing tax compliance and risk.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Canadian Product Tax team and provide tax advisory services to business units on tax compliance requirements related to customer tax.
  • Advise on tax issues related to Canadian product and customer taxation, including tax withholding and tax reporting.
  • Prepare written technical tax analysis on product and customer tax issues.
  • Monitor tax legislation and government administrative positions and identify implications for Manulife products and clients.
Requirements:
  • Accounting designation (CPA or equivalent).
  • 10+ years of Canadian tax experience – preferably in customer tax.
  • CPA In-Depth Tax Course.
  • Knowledge of the financial services industry and products.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively with business lines and other legal and tax professionals.
  • Aptitude for new technology.
