Truck and Coach Technician

The City of Ottawa's Transit Fleet and Facilities Maintenance team is seeking a skilled Truck and Coach Technician to provide safe, reliable, efficient, timely, and cost-effective transit vehicle maintenance services.
As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of duties, including diagnostic inspections, general mechanical overhauls, and daily maintenance repairs. You will also be responsible for performing unit changes or repairs to Fleet vehicles, including transmission, brakes, suspensions, electrical components, injectors, radiators, steering, differentials, and air systems.
Responsibilities- Conduct diagnostic inspections of vehicles
- Perform general mechanical overhauls and repairs
- Perform daily maintenance repairs
- Perform unit changes or repairs to Fleet vehicles
- Make miscellaneous adjustments to doors, destination signs, and other vehicle systems
- Completion of Truck and Coach Technician apprenticeship program of 6720 hours
- Valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification as Truck and Coach Technician 310T
- Considerable knowledge of vehicle systems, standard methods, tools, and equipment used in the trade
- Diagnostic equipment
- Personal computers, with ability to use the Fleet Management Information System
- Safe work practices of the trade
- Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers
