Job Description
The Transit Fleet and Facilities Maintenance team is seeking a skilled Truck and Coach Technician to provide safe, reliable, efficient, timely, and cost-effective transit vehicle maintenance services.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic inspections of vehicles, conduct general mechanical overhauls and repairs, and perform daily maintenance repairs.
- Perform unit changes or repairs to Fleet vehicles, including transmission, brakes, suspensions, electrical components, injectors, radiators, steering, differentials, and air systems.
- Make miscellaneous adjustments to doors, destination signs, and other vehicle systems.
Requirements
- Completion of Truck and Coach Technician apprenticeship program of 6720 hours.
- Valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification as Truck and Coach Technician 310T.
- Considerable knowledge of vehicle systems, standard methods, tools, and equipment used in the trade.
- Knowledge of City policies and procedures affecting shop operations, safe work practices, and applicable health and safety legislation.

- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Possess sound judgment, initiative, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Good manual dexterity and ability to work to close tolerances.
Working Conditions
- Physically fit, with stamina to perform duties of the trade.
- Able to work in uncomfortable or confined positions, tolerate exposure to moderate amounts of noise, dust, grit, oil/grease, fumes, solvents, paints, lacquers, hot/sharp metals, and surface finishing products.
Language Requirement
English oral, reading, writing
Driver's License Requirement
A valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver's license (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated
Additional Requirements
- Must complete City training and obtain Ontario unrestricted CZ class driver's license (or provincial equivalent) within the timeframe determined by the employer.
- Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements.
