Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse

St. Boniface Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team in the Peritoneal Unit. As a LPN, you will provide professional practical nursing services to designated patients, including independent nursing services, administration of prescribed medical treatments, and collaboration with the healthcare team.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality patient care, adhering to Professional Standards of Practice and Competency Profile for Licensed Practical Nurses in Manitoba.
  • Administer prescribed medical treatments, including medications and IV therapy, as per facility policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to coordinate patient care and discharge, ensuring seamless transitions and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Participate in ongoing education and maintain competency with relevant legislated acts, such as PHIA and WHMIS.
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing care for individual patients or groups, and responding to simultaneous demands.
  • Assume responsibility for own professional growth, development, and competency, pursuing self-development opportunities as needed.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an approved Licensed Practical Nursing program.
  • One year of recent acute medical/surgical nursing experience.
  • Eligibility for and willingness to enroll in the Manitoba Nephrology Nursing Course (MNNC).
  • Current active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba (CLPNM).
  • Certification in IV Therapy and IV Medication Administration.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Competency in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions, and values.
  • Experience working in a dialysis unit or peritoneal dialysis setting.
Working Conditions:
  • Rotating shifts and weekends may be required.
  • Stand-by coverage for dialysis may be necessary.
