Position SummaryWe're seeking a seasoned Trade Compliance Specialist to join our team. This role will develop, implement, and maintain customs compliance procedures to ensure SHEIN adheres to Canadian importing and exporting regulations. The position will be based in Markham, ON.
Key Responsibilities:- Maintain expertise in Canadian trade regulations, providing guidance and advice to relevant stakeholders.
- Interpret trade regulations, assess their impact on the business, and prepare documentation for stakeholders.
- Manage daily operations of customs brokers by developing and maintaining procedure manuals.
- Review monthly KPIs and provide recommendations to management for further business improvements.
- Evaluate business risks, consider trade compliance directives, and implement adequate controls to monitor their effectiveness.
- Ensure SHEIN complies with licensing, notification, and record-keeping requirements related to trade regulations.
- Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to ensure accurate and up-to-date classification.
- Act as a subject matter expert on trade compliance directives and publications.
- Support the Regional Director of Trade Compliance on Canada-specific matters.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Business, Law, or a related field (preferred).
- At least 5 years of experience in trade compliance in e-commerce, consumer goods, and apparel industries.
- Certified Customs Specialist or other Compliance-related certification (a plus).
- In-depth understanding of Harmonized Tariff System (HTS) classification, General Rules of Interpretation, and Advance Ruling process.
- Comprehensive knowledge of customs regulations, government agency requirements, and international trade principles.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to quickly understand complex regulatory concepts and explain them clearly to stakeholders.
