Trade Compliance Expert for E-commerce and Consumer Goods

SHEIN is a global fashion e-retailer, committed to making fashion accessible worldwide. We utilize on-demand manufacturing technology to connect suppliers with our supply chain, minimizing inventory waste and delivering affordable products globally.
As a seasoned professional in trade compliance, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining customs procedures ensuring SHEIN's adherence to Canadian importing and exporting regulations, as well as other related laws and agencies.
This role is based in Markham, ON, and requires expertise in Canadian trade regulations, providing guidance and advice. Key responsibilities include:
- Interpreting trade regulations, conducting thorough assessments of their impacts on the business, and preparing guidance documents for stakeholders.
- Managing customs brokers' daily operations by creating and maintaining procedure manuals.
- Assessing business risks, considering trade compliance directives, implementing controls, and monitoring their effectiveness.
- Ensuring SHEIN complies with licensing, notification, and record-keeping requirements related to trade regulations.
- Acting as a subject matter expert on trade compliance directives and publications.
To excel in this role, you should possess:
- A Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Business, Law, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in trade compliance within e-commerce, consumer goods, and apparel industries.
- Certified Customs Specialist, Certified Trade Compliance Specialist, or similar certification is an asset.
- Comprehensive knowledge of customs regulations, government agency requirements, and international trade understanding.
- The ability to explain complex legal concepts simply and write policies, procedures, and guidance documents effectively.
