About the Role

The Town of Caledon is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Planner, Development to join our team. As a key member of our planning department, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a wide range of development applications, including Official Plan Amendments, Zoning By-law Amendments, and Draft Plans of Subdivisions.
  • Act as a Lead Planner/Project Manager on development applications, providing professional planning opinions and recommendations.
  • Serve as a liaison between planning applicants, consultants, and stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Coordinate and chair regular update meetings with applicants, agencies, departments, and stakeholders.
  • Perform site inspections and adhere to the Planning Act when managing development applications.
  • Review and analyze the planning policy framework to determine professional planning opinions and provide recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Triaging and prioritizing applications, identifying problems/issues, and proposing creative solutions.
  • Attend and present at various internal staff committees.
  • Prepare draft plan conditions for subdivision and condominium applications.
  • Review and recommend improvements to the planning policy framework and standard operating procedures.
Requirements

We are seeking a passionate professional with a post-secondary degree in Planning, BES, or a closely related field. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a land use planning role with increasing responsibilities is required. Membership in the Ontario Professional Planners Institute and Canadian Institute of Planners is preferred.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated knowledge of the Planning Act, Provincial Policy Statement, Provincial Plans, and the Regional and Local Planning Policy Framework. Superior communication skills, a demonstrated ability to negotiate with a focus on problem solving, and an excellent ability to work in a team environment are essential.

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a flexible schedule, including in the office, remotely, and after hours (as required). The successful candidate will be required to work a flexible schedule and may be required to work evenings and weekends as needed.

This position offers a competitive salary range of $107,132,218.17 plus a comprehensive benefits package. Satisfactory passing of a criminal record check and proof of qualifications will be required of any successful candidate(s) for this position.
