About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Operator 4 to join our team at The Government of Nova Scotia. As a key member of our Building Services Division, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our provincial building infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

As a Building Operator 4, you will be responsible for supervising a team of Building Operators, ensuring that all building operations, maintenance, and repairs are carried out in a safe and timely manner. You will also be responsible for preparing work schedules, evaluating work performance, and providing technical guidance to your supervised staff.

You will work closely with various government departments, vendors, contractors, and consultants to ensure that all construction projects, equipment installations, and system upgrades are completed with minimal disruption to building tenants.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require a Power Engineer 3rd Class certificate and five years of related experience in the operation and maintenance of commercial or institutional buildings. You must also have previous experience supervising a team and demonstrated leadership qualities.

You will need to have a sound knowledge of all aspects of building construction and operation, including architectural, plumbing, electrical, fire suppression, and HVAC systems. You must also be familiar with the National Building Code and the National Fire Code, as well as the Occupational Safety General Regulations and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
