Business Operations Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY
The Business Support Services Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our organization's mail and courier services. Reporting to the Supervisor, Business Support Services, this position is responsible for managing incoming and outgoing mail, maintaining adequate supplies and equipment, and resolving requests related to assigned work areas.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
The successful candidate will have:
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma and post-secondary courses in office or business administration.
- Working related experience in a comparable work environment, including front-of-office experience.
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience acceptable to the employer.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Some knowledge of mail and courier systems.
- Some knowledge of basic accounting principles.
- Some knowledge of database systems.
- Strong in the use of Windows OS and MS Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong teamwork and customer service skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and priority-setting skills.
- Ability to lift over 30 lbs and be mobile throughout a shift.
- Ability to work effectively independently and in a team in a high-pressure environment.
- Ability to be flexible, adapt, and adjust to changes in the work environment.
- Ability to prioritize and process large volumes of work while meeting prescribed deadlines.
- Ability to comprehend instructions to carry out tasks and assignments.
- Ability to liaise and build strong working relationships with other departments and internal staff.
- Ability to exercise sound judgement and display tact and diplomacy when dealing with confidential matters.
