At Canadian Blood Services, we are committed to saving and improving lives through the collection of donor blood. Our dynamic team is seeking a Phlebotomy Specialist - Donor Care Advocate to join our Donor Centre team in Toronto, Ontario.

About the Role

This role involves performing phlebotomy in the collection process while adhering to health and safety standards. You will work closely with donors, team members, and volunteers to provide a safe and quality experience during each stage of the collection process.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leverage your excellent people skills to conduct registration and confidential screening, building a positive donor experience.
  • Maintain a high level of customer service by monitoring donors for safety and comfort, providing post-donation care, and respecting donor privacy.
  • Ensure the safe processing and handling of blood products by drawing on your knowledge and experience.
  • Work collaboratively with others to assist in the collection of whole blood and apheresis blood components that save lives daily.
  • Support mobile events within our communities by setting up booths, tables, and equipment to ensure donor clinics are properly set up.
Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited training program in phlebotomy or one year of related experience.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new systems and programs.
  • A second language is considered an asset to support a positive donor experience.
