Postdoctoral Research Fellow for Polymer Sorbent Development for CO2 Capture at University of Ottawa

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our team at Svante, working in collaboration with the University of Ottawa. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research and development of novel polymer sorbents for CO2 capture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct experimentation in synthesizing or altering polymers to develop CO capture sorbents with enhanced performance and lifetime.
- Work with the research team to design and implement experiments, collect and analyze data, and draw conclusions.
- Develop and optimize methods for synthesizing and characterizing polymer sorbents.
- Collaborate with the research team to identify and address technical challenges and opportunities.
- Document experimental records, observations, data analysis, and summarization.
- Conduct lab work on CO sorbent synthesis at small scales in labs and potentially conduct pre-industrial scaling up organic sorbent synthesis works based on bench-scale results.
Requirements:
- Ph.D. in chemistry, polymer chemistry, or a related field with several years of related research experience.
- Expertise in organic synthesis, purification, polymer modification, and polymerization reactions.
- Adaptability to change and comfort with broad job functions such as sourcing, method development, etc.
- Self-motivation, passion, and creativity about bringing new ideas to the sorbent team.
- Hands-on experience in carbon-capture sorbents development.
- Expertise in characterization techniques such as TGA, Sorption gas analyzers, FTIR, SEM, XRD, NMR, etc.
- Skills in chemistry/computational software such as chem draw, Mercury, GCMC simulation, Ab Initio Calculations, and other methods.
- Familiarity with the Design of Experiments (DOE).
