About the Role

The City of Vancouver is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Urban Planning Specialist to join our Planning, Urban Design & Sustainability team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting the City's efforts to become a leader in climate adaptation and sustainable development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research and analysis on green infrastructure policy, planning, design, and operations to inform decision-making and policy development.
  • Collaborate with various departments and external stakeholders to develop and implement green infrastructure projects and initiatives.
  • Provide technical support and advice to staff and stakeholders on green infrastructure policy, planning, and design.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external partners and stakeholders to advance the City's green infrastructure goals.
  • Prepare and present reports, presentations, and other materials to support decision-making and stakeholder engagement.
Requirements
  • Completion of a degree in urban planning, environmental studies, or a related field, supplemented by relevant experience.
  • Sound knowledge of green infrastructure policy, planning, design, and operations, as well as climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to collaboration and customer service.
