Job Summary

The City of Vancouver is seeking a highly skilled Urban Planning Coordinator to join their team in the Planning, Urban Design & Sustainability department. This temporary full-time position will support the Complete Neighborhoods / Area Planning team in various activities related to neighborhood planning and development.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support public engagement activities, including organizing workshops and open houses, and assisting with the preparation of supporting materials.
  • Conduct research, analyze data, and communicate key findings on neighborhood planning topics.
  • Develop graphics and visual communication materials, such as diagrams and presentations.
  • Assist with policy development and implementation, including land use and urban design directions.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Completion of the twelfth school grade or equivalent, supplemented by courses in graphics, community engagement, GIS, or related fields.
  • Previous experience as a Planning Assistant I or related role is preferred.
  • Post-secondary degree in Planning or related discipline is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, sound research and analytical abilities, and a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and graphics programs.
